Do you want to inspire your students and young people to dance?
Or would you like to take their interest in dance to the next level?
Are you interested in the other benefits of introducing them to this dynamic and exciting dance style?
Our workshops are a great way to:
Breaking/bboying (breakdance) and other street dance styles are not part of a regulated industry and there are a lot of teachers out their teaching “their own version” of street dance. However, street dances are traditional styles with a history and established vocabulary.
When you book a workshop with Just 4 Funk, you know your students will learn the real thing.
This is important if they ever want to move into a career in dance. It’s also important because the real thing is so much more inspiring – learning the real breaking and other street dance styles properly allows your students to tap into the 40 year history and tradition of street dance that has kept it alive and growing. These styles have captured the hearts and minds of people from all walks of life, all over the globe. They can do this for your students too – if you get a teacher that actually knows them!
Workshops with us give students the chance to learn the authentic techniques and foundations of breaking (AKA Breakdancing) and other street dance styles properly, in a safe and supportive environment.
Students are also able to see demonstrations of advanced moves they probably won’t see anywhere else (except maybe TV). We have found our breaking (breakdance) workshops to be a great way to:
We have extensive experience working with students with learning difficulties, low confidence or self-esteem and behavioural issues. We adapt our workshops to the ability and confidence of each group individually. They can also be adapted to meet specific curricular requirements or to fit in with a theme or topic. Here’s some examples of what we can do for your students:
Introduction to breaking (AKA breakdancing) workshop A taught introduction to the main elements of breaking (AKA breakdancing): Toprock (stand up dance), footwork (dance on the floor), powermoves (spinning moves) and freezes (balances,) go-downs and get-ups. Half-day and full-day workshops Great for activity days. These longer workshops allow us to get deeper with concepts in the dance such as style, presentation and character, as well as allowing students to build their own work. Intermediate/Advanced workshops.
For students who already have some experience, we can help you take your skills to the next level. Toprock, footwork, musicality, freezes and power including: Windmills, Swipes, Munchmills, One-shot headspins, Tracks, Jackhammers, Turtles, Halos, UFOs etc. Afterschool clubs (limited availability) This allows students to get much deeper with breaking (AKA breakdancing) and puts them in good stead should they choose to continue learning the dance or incorporate it into other practies. Often our after school clubs lead up to a show at the end of the project. Mixed styles workshops (full day only) Although Just 4 Funk are primarily a breaking crew, we have an extensive network of dancers from other styles. We can run workshops for Popping, House, Hip Hop and other styles. Due to travel arrangements, we can usually only offer this as a full day package.
