Project Mayhem Crew is a dance development project and bboy/bgirl crew run by Just 4 Funk.

What is the idea behind Project Mayhem Crew?

Breaking, and all hip hop art forms, depend on knowledge being passed down from one generation to the next. Many people think that “talent” in street dances just means being able to learn moves quickly. But the truth is that a truly talented student is someone who seeks out knowledge and mentors, and who always wants to develop as an artist and a person.

Project Mayhem Crew is a place where truly talented BBoys and Bgirls can come to learn in guided sessions with the most experienced members of Just 4 Funk. Thanks to Arts Council England, we are also able to bring in some of the best dancers and coaches from around the UK.

One of the biggest challenges facing talented young dancers in Devon is  the physical distance to the breaking scene in the rest of the UK. This means it is costly to travel and be exposed to this aspect of Hip Hop Culture. Furthermore, most breaking in Devon is confined to dance studios and halls-for-hire which cost a lot of money if students are to practice regularly. Thanks to Arts Council England we have been able to start overcoming these goals and taking the next generation of dancers in Devon to the highest level possible.

Project Mayhem Crew is currently funded by Arts Council England.
